The clinic routinely struggles to make ends meet each month. Many times they have not been able to make payroll, and staff has had to wait for their earnings. Dr. Bob did receive brief national recognition in 2006 for his humanism, but has not been able to raise just $300,000 to renovate the building and comply with State standards as a free standing article 28 clinic. $300,000 is a relatively small amount considering the amount they have "given away" in free medical care in the last 5 years(approx $600,000.) It is unfortunate that Koinonia has not received the financial aid nor donations from benefactors or philanthropists nationwide.
The average amount the clinic receives from insurance carriers and patient copays is $20,000 a month.
The APPROXIMATE COST of running the clinic is broken down as follows::(not actual numbers)
Non Physician Staff wages: $8800
Building Payment: $3000
Utilities(water,electric, phone) $3500.
Outsource Billing Service: $2000
Malpractice Insurance : $2000
Other professional fees: $750
Medical Supplies: $1500
Office supplies: $1000
Computer supplies/maintenece support: $1000
Electronic medical record program fees $800
over 21K goes out most months, and there is a shortfall most months.
so, its obvious there is no salary for the doctor himself, and the clinic has operated in this capacity (or even more bare bones) since 2000.
